Though small in size, Flagler Beach has so much to offer it residents and visitors. At the center of town are the Flagler Beach Boardwalk and Fishing Pier. Whether you are an angler or not the pier is where locals go to relax while taking in breath taking ocean views. Our uncrowded beaches run for miles north and south of the pier.
To the south is the landmark restaurant High tides Snack Shack with its valet parking, fresh seafood, ice cold beer and open air setting directly on the beach. Further south is Gamble Rogers State Park. This windswept park is named for Florida folk singer Gamble Rogers. The beach is the most popular feature at this park, where visitors enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or beachcombing. The daily low tide is an ideal time to observe shore birds feeding in tidal ponds; summer months bring sea turtles that lay their eggs in the golden-brown sand. On the Intracoastal Waterway side of the park, picnic pavilions provide a shady place to enjoy a meal. A nature trail winds through a shady coastal forest of scrub oaks and saw palmetto. Boaters and canoeists can launch from a boat ramp on the Intracoastal Waterway.
To the north of Flagler Pier are many ocean front, river front and interior homes and home sites in areas known as Beverly Beach, Hammock, Beach Haven, Summer Haven and Marineland. There are both gated and open neighborhoods.
The Ocean Course at prestigious Hammock Beach Resort is one of the peninsula’s two championship golf courses situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by Jack Nicklaus the Ocean Course was dubbed the Pebble Beach of the east coast by Golf Magazine. The Ocean Course has hosted several professional golf events.
The event lawn at Hammock Beach features performances by headline entertainers most recently Vince Gill, Dennis Deyoung, Pat Bennitar and Somkie Joe Robinson graced the Hammock Beach stage.
The northern peninsula boasts several parks including Bing’s Landing and Washington Oaks State Park both situated on the Intracoastal Waterway. At far northern end of the peninsula is the Marineland Dolphin Research Center the world oldest Oceanaraium. After a complete renovation visitors to the Marineland attraction can take in a show or even swim with the dolphins.
